“But African time was not the same as American time... As African time passed, I surmised that the pace of Western countries was insane, that the speed of modern technology accomplished nothing, and that because Africa was going its own way at its own pace for its own reasons, it was a refuge and a resting place.”

– Paul Theroux (American travel writer)

Zimbabwe, a land of enchantment and mystery, calls out to the soulful traveler
who yearns for the wild and the untamed

A nation of boundless landscapes and unparalleled natural beauty, it offers respite from the mundane trappings of everyday life. To step foot in Zimbabwe is to journey into the heart of Africa, to experience a world where the rhythm of nature beats loud and proud. For those who dare to answer the call of the wild, a luxury safari experience in Zimbabwe promises a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

The best times to visit Zimbabwe for a safari holiday typically fall within the dry season and the shoulder seasons, which offer favorable weather conditions and excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. However, specific timing may depend on the attractions and experiences you’re interested in.

Dry season (May to October): The dry season in Zimbabwe is considered the best time for wildlife viewing, as animals tend to congregate around water sources due to the scarcity of water. National parks such as Hwange, Mana Pools, and Gonarezhou provide exceptional game viewing during this period. The weather is cooler and drier, making it more comfortable for visitors. However, this period is also the peak tourist season, so expect higher prices and more crowded lodges.

Shoulder seasons (April and November): These transitional months can offer a good balance between wildlife viewing and fewer tourists. The weather is generally pleasant, with moderate temperatures and occasional rain showers. In April, the landscapes are still lush and green from the rainy season, while November marks the beginning of the short rains, which can bring new life to the environment and attract migratory birds.

Green season (December to March): While not considered the optimal time for a safari due to the rainy weather and potential travel disruptions, the green season can still offer rewarding experiences. The landscapes are lush and vibrant, and many animals give birth, resulting in increased predator activity. Additionally, there are fewer tourists, and lodges may offer lower rates. However, some camps and lodges may be closed during the heavy rains, particularly between January and February.
