Our favorite child-friendly safari activities

Family-filled fun

Fun for young ones

Family-focused safari lodges include a variety of fun-filled activities to entertain young one’s. This includes cooking lessons using local ingredients, African storytelling, board games and arts and crafts.

Become a junior ranger

Many safari lodges offer “Junior Ranger” programs, which are designed to be fun and educational. For example – kids get to learn from game rangers about the stuff they find interesting (like animal poop).

Learn about different cultures

Enrich your safari by meeting the local communities. Visit the villages, learn about their age-old customs, participate in traditional ceremonies and discover their authentic cuisine, all while connecting with the warm, welcoming spirit of Africa’s people.

Fishing

Catching fish is a fun way to get kids out into the fresh open air. It enables them to experience the wonders of nature and wildlife as they learn to focus, persevere and exercise patience. Most lodges have on-site dams and rivers and your kids will be safely guided
by the local rangers.

Treasure Hunts

One of the most exciting and fun activities for kids on safari. At safari lodges, there is usually a lot of ground to explore, perfect for getting kids to spend time in nature searching for seed pods, porcupine quills, bones and other mementos. You could even make them compete
for a prize!
